In an effort to help her lover, Antonio and his Maltese revolutionary friends, she goes to sea as a mid-shipman. A series of calamities leaves her as the only officer on board a frigate. Will she take on the captain's role and fight the ship? An American privateer brings plans for a revolutionary new ship's gun to sell to the highest bidder. In a race across Europe, can she stop the plans from reaching Napoleon allowing him to dominate at sea and causing a slip in time?
